Pitcrawler
A downloadable game
Ho, Bold* Adventurer! Dare you step into a world of peril?
Pitcrawler is a two-player fantasy RPG inspired by old adventure gamebooks, where a daring and foolhardy adventurer will be guided through trials, tribulations and treasures towards glory or death.
Head-to-Head!
One player, one GM, endless possibilities. Work together to create a challenging and fun scenario in a system that’s a bit collaborative and a bit competitive.
No Lore!
A world carved up and distorted by thoughtless and powerful wizards, but no names, places or histories to remember. Develop the world together as you play, as serious or silly as you like.
Leave a Legacy!
Death got you down? Did your adventurer end up retiring? No problem, with our legacy system your next character gets a cool boost.
Rules-Lite, Stuff Heavy!
A simple, flexible rules system, but a book full of foes, magic items, potions, companions, and backgrounds. Fight a tree! Be a mayor! Use your skill at accounting to defeat a vampire somehow!
Load of Tables!
More tables than you can shake a randomly generated item at! What’s this adventure’s title? How are you cursed? What does it smell like?
Thumbs!
Avoid bad luck with our patented** Thumbs mechanic, and roll back time.

For $20 you get around 257 pages of content, tables allowing you to name and fill a quickly prepared adventure, flexible mechanics and your very own guide to how to create an overbearing Wizard who takes over (a portion of) the world.
And there's even more! The modular battle system lets you modify the game for the crunch you want, and as this is a duet system (which usually features, y'know, one player character), your player can use Thumbs to allow themselves to make mistakes and roll back time so they can take a different route. If they die, (which they tend to), it's not automatically game over; your next character can pick a legacy based off of your dead (or more hopefully, retired) ex-parrot.
Not to say this game is built to be easy, but it's definitely one that is built for *fun*. There's a lot of good advice for duets as well, and the writing is easy, accessible and above all, hilarious. And who doesn't like a rash of bumbling, overpowered Wizards to rule them all?
I will say this--a mage you will not be with the game's general ethos. You, good adventurer, are a pitcrawler, and there you will stay. The game is however, extremely hackable, which goes back to the modular crunch in the battle system--you can add elements and take them away as you please, and who is to dictate your choices except you and your (hopefully-not-too-unhappy) duet partner?
I can't begin to put into words how much I love this system for everything it presents--from the CYOA stylings, to the Savage Worlds-style dice mechanics, to the tables and the extremely quick and easy character creation mechanics. It even comes with a sample adventure!
All that to say, get this if you like fun, and/or you're looking for a fully realized game intended to be played with one other friend, lover, or insert-here-parrot-of-choice.
Thanks so much for your review - glad you're enjoying it!
